Configuring your IR daily sync settings

This article will explain what the IR sync settings mean for you and your firm if enabled.

As part of the IR connection, there is the ability to enable the daily sync, which will update details for your firm daily.

These settings keep your entire firm up to date by automatically syncing taxpayer information from Inland Revenue (IR) to your firmwide dashboard. Once enabled, updates flow through to all tools across the dashboard, reducing manual work and ensuring accuracy for everyone in your team.

What do each of the checkboxes actually do?

1. Automatically Add New Taxpayers

If this checkbox is enabled, when new taxpayers appear on your IR client lists, they will be automatically created and synced to your firmwide dashboard the following day.

This means that your dashboard will reflects your current client base without manual entry.

2. Automatically Remove Taxpayers

When enabled, if a taxpayer is removed from your connected IR client lists, they will be automatically removed from your firmwide dashboard.

This helps to keep your dashboard clean and accurate and maintains confidentiality for clients who are no longer active.

3. Update Taxpayer Settings

If this checkbox is enabled, Key taxpayer details will update automatically for the current year, including:

- Balance date
- Terminal tax date
- Provisional tax method
- 6-monthly GST filing frequency

These updates apply across all tools in the dashboard, ensuring calculations and reporting remain correct for your entire firm.

Important note: Confidential taxpayers
Before enabling the Inland Revenue daily sync, please check whether you have any restricted taxpayers on your client lists which have been connected - those whose details should be limited to specific team members or excluded from the Tax Traders portal entirely.

If you do, you must first email their IR numbers to team@taxtraders.co.nz. We’ll confirm once they’ve been handled - only then should you enable the daily sync. This ensures that confidential information is only accessible to the right people.

Why should we enable these settings?

- Keeps your whole team aligned and up to date.
- Saves time by automating routine updates.
- Reduces risk of errors and improves compliance.
