Uploading your XPM data

Setting up your custom XPM report and keeping your XPM data up to date.

Our initial goal is to create a custom report in XPM that matches the sample file in ProvCheck. This will take about five to ten minutes. Make sure you name your report well, because you'll run this report every provisional or terminal tax date.

Creating your custom XPM report

1. Open XPM.

2. Select: Reports, Report Builder, New Report,

3. Set:

Report type to Tax Payments (Awaiting Approval)

Report layout to Table

4. Required fields:

[Client] Group(s)
[Client] Client
[Client] Email
[Client] Salutation
[Client] Tax Number
[Client] Account Manager
[Client] Job Manager
[Client] Tax Return Status (2022) *
[Client] Tax Return Status (2023) *
[Client] Tax Return Status (2024) *
[Client] Provisional Tax Basis
[Client] Type
[Payment] Amount
[Payment] Date
[Payment] Payment Due
[Payment] Summary
[Payment] Tax Type
[Payment] Tax Year

*The years should reflect the current tax year and the two prior periods.

5. Select the following criteria:

  • [Payment] Tax Type = "Income Tax"
  • [Payment] Date = set to the relevant tax date e.g. 7 May 2024.
  • [Client] Business Structure excludes Partnerships

Upload report

Export your X report in either a CSV or XLS format.  And select Upload Xero data and follow the prompts.

Keeping your XPM data current

While XPM does not support direct data connections for income tax notices, you can upload new data files as often as you would like.

The new data will overwrite any unlocked client reviews and impacted clients will show under ‘New data’. We recommend importing new files from XPM at least weekly.

Locked workflow stages

Where you see a padlock icon next to a workflow stage, this means the ProvCheck and Xero calculations will not update for new data. This is on the basis you’ve made a final decision for that client and new data won’t change your decision. If new data might change your decision, you can leave your reviews in different unlocked workflow stages
